The Happy Toddler eBook Chantal Kayem
The Happy Toddler is an expansive and detailed look at what parents should know and do in order to raise a happy toddler who has the foundation to grow into a well adjusted adult. The book’s first chapters focus on the overall ‘big picture’ information involved with such topics as child development (emotional and physical), language and communication, and discipline styles. These chapters cover a great deal of information; I think it was most effective to read all of these chapters to have a comprehensive idea of positive and effective ways to help your child grow. They are full of great information, and it’s all presented in a very readable way.The later chapters focus on more specific behaviors and give a great amount of examples and techniques to help parents, focusing on behavior problems, creating schedules and managing change. I liked that these were broken up into sections and really expanded on, it makes it easy to find information on problems you might be facing at any given time with your toddler.
I also liked that the book didn’t just have information about toddlers, but also helps parents understand how to change their own perceptions to make great parenting less stressful and more achievable for all parents.

Kayem did a great job of taking a very complicated topic (parenting) and presenting useful information in a direct and helpful manner. Parenting can be frustrating, always wondering if you’re doing the right thing and if what your child is doing is normal. When I search for information, many times I cannot find a straight answer or I find contradictory information. I really appreciated how Kayem presented her information in a direct and concise way. Also, I really like the layout of this book. The chapters and relatively short and the main points are easy to pick out. Kayem was very thorough in her choice of topics to cover. As a parent of a toddler, I could not think of a topic I wanted help with that was not included in this book. I would definitely recommend this book to a first time parent in hopes of providing them with important information without overwhelming them. If you are looking for more in depth information or a variety of suggestions, you may want to supplement this book with some other resources.

This is a very well thought out & laid out book; Kayem makes it easy to find the topics pertinent to you and your toddler which for a busy parent is huge. There are helpful graphs and charts, points to remember, easy to follow questions and answers in each section with real-world examples, great ideas (many that are easy to implement) and Kayem even includes a section for parents about rekindling romance, maintaining your relationship with your spouse and more. This is a must-have for any parent who wants to not only be a better parent but also has an interest in understanding their toddler.

This book is perfect for new parents! Actually, this book is perfect for all parents! The Happy Toddler gives parents (or parents to be) lot's of insight and great advice. Even those of us who might look at ourselves as "experienced" would benefit from this book, as there are times when we as parents, may get wrapped up in other aspects of our lives that we forget the importance of children's development and how our actions play a huge part on that. This book is very resourceful and I would recommend that all parents pick up a copy of this book.

This book is a wonderful resource for parents! The format of the book was great, I particularly enjoyed the short sections. As a mother of a toddler, the shorter sections made it easy to read when I only had a few minutes and makes it easier to reference for future needs. My husband is not a reader so when I asked him to read sections addressing issues we are having with our 2 year old, he had no trouble finishing since they are only a handful of pages. I agree with another reviewer that I couldn't think of a topic that I wish would have been covered. I have already recommended this book to friends of mine with a four month old. Every parent should have this book as a resource!
